Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some answers to the questions we receive the most about our massage services. If we missed anything, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to help!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE?
According to the Mayo Clinic, studies have shown that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress and pain, as well as relieving muscle tension. They are also found to be helpful for:
- Anxiety
- Digestive disorders
- Fibromyalgia
- Headaches
- Insomnia related to stress
- Myofascial pain syndrome
- Soft tissue strains or injuries
- Sports injuries
DO YOU HAVE A MALE OR FEMALE THERAPIST?
Here, at A Better Me, we only have two female therapists and they are phenomenal!
WHAT IS A FULL BODY MASSAGE?
A full-body massage at A Better Me Spa includes your arms, legs, hands and feet, your neck and scalp, back and your glutes. It might also include your face, pecs, and stomach depending on the issues you’re trying to address during your treatment.
IS IT OKAY TO TALK DURING MY MASSAGE SESSION?
You should always feel free to express any discomfort when undergoing a massage. However, please avoid intense chatting with your therapist during your session; this can lead to increased muscular tension and limit the effectiveness of your experience.
WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON TIPPING?
While it is not an obligation to give your therapist a gratuity, it is always appreciated after their hard work. Gratuities can be given at the time of payment and the industry average is anything from 20-25%.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RECEIVE A MASSAGE?
For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one massage a month is common. Weekly sessions may be desirable if you are receiving massage for injury relief or to relieve chronic tightness that is interfering with your daily life.
SHOULD I COME IN FOR A MASSAGE IF I HAVE A COLD OR THE FLU?
No. Receiving a service while battling a cold or influenza is never a good idea. Not only can you easily spread illness to our therapist (who is seeing several other clients per day), but you can also exasperate your symptoms by receiving a massage. If you do come in while ill, our therapist may choose to reschedule your session. Know that this is for your well-being and the health of our therapists and other clients.
WHEN CAN I GET A MASSAGE AFTER GETTING A VACCINE?
All guests should wait at least 5 days after any vaccine before scheduling their massage. A Better Me Spa wants to give everyone time to heal before working on a guest.
DO YOU OFFER COUPLES MASSAGES?
Unfortunately, with the way our therapist’s schedules work, we do not offer couples massages at our Spa. It is also very rare that we have two massages available at the same time.
