Red light therapy – also known as red LED light therapy – is a controversial therapeutic technique that uses red low-level wavelengths of light to treat skin issues, such as wrinkles, scars, and persistent wounds, among other conditions.
“Red Light Therapy is a technology that has both cosmetic and healing effects. The word “healing” is defined as “the natural process by which the body repairs itself” That is exactly what happens when the body is exposed to Red Light Wavelengths”
– Tammy Thompson, Women’s Journal
The anti-aging effect is dependent on the skin condition, as well as age. Everyone reacts differently. Research has shown that many people report noticeable results within the first 30-60 days of scheduled use. We strongly recommend 3 to 4 sessions per week for the first 8 to 12 weeks. After your first 12 weeks, we recommend 1-2 sessions per week thereafter. Skin rejuvenation is a dynamic process. If treatments are discontinued, natural expression lines will gradually return over the course of time, at which point re-treatment can be put in place.
Initially you’ll notice fine lines and blemishes start to diminish. Also, your skin will have a much smoother feeling to it and the pigmentation of the skin will start to even out.
Over time, improved oxygenation and detoxification of the skin is achieved as the vascular walls of the skin’s small blood vessels are strengthened. Followed by improved, natural repair and creation of healthy skin. This will help restore and firm up tired looking skin. Also, you’ll notice the decrease of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne, facial pores, and stretch marks. Overall improving the skin’s underlying supportive structure and making you look and feel years younger!

Treatments will improve skin tone and texture, control pigmentation spots, help reduce pore size, encourage vibrant, healthier-looking skin, and reduce wrinkles. Above all, this therapy stimulates circulation and repairs the elastin fibers within tissue to help keep skin firm.
According to the FDA, red light at 633nm has a “non-significant risk” status and is completely safe for the eyes. Red light penetrates tissue to a depth of 8 –10 mm, delivering energy to stimulate a response from the body to heal itself.
Red light at 633nm is absorbed by the mitochondria of the cell and stimulates intracellular energy transfer (ATP) production. Because of this, cell vitality and permeability are enhanced. Also, the production of new collagen is increased. Laboratory studies have shown that skin cells grow 150 – 200 percent faster when exposed to certain light wavelengths, and research has shown red light delivers powerful therapeutic benefits to living tissue.
Our Red Light sessions are 20 minutes long.
Too much sunlight can affect the skin due to the emission of broad spectrum ultraviolet energy through the atmosphere. While our red light bulbs utilize the visible spectra of light at 633nm (red), but contain no UVA or UVB rays.
Red Light Therapy does not cut, burn, or break the skin as with laser treatments. Lasers use heat and concentrated light to vaporize or remove tissue. On the other hand, red light therapy bulbs produce no vaporization or burning of tissue, and therefore no inflammation or erythema. Red Light Therapy is one of the few non-invasive tools available that can reverse the appearance of aging skin, such as wrinkles and mottled skin tone.
Please be aware that makeup may reduce or block the effectiveness of the light. The skin’s permeability increases during the session, which improves the effect of skin care products and allows active ingredients to penetrate deeper. For best results, we recommend removing all makeup prior to use.
No. Unlike lasers or other ablative (skin harming) treatments, red light therapy treatments are non-thermal, non-ablative, and noninvasive. Clients report no discomfort or pain associated with red light therapy treatments. However, your skin will feel warm or hot due to the intensity of the lights. Don’t worry though, you will not burn.
No studies have been found showing any harmful effects to the eyes. However, we recommend not staring directing into the red light lamps. You will be provided with eye-wear and the choice will be yours to use or not.
There are few immediate changes to skin, as change occurs naturally over a period of weeks. Everyone reacts differently, depending on their age and the condition of their skin. In general, best results are achieved over an 8 – 12 week period.
Red Light helps remove the bacteria that causes acne, and generates cellular activity that deals with age spots and sun damage. Also, red light therapy brightens skin and reduces the formation of pigmentation marks.
It is safe and effective for all skin types and colors. The main prerequisite is that skin should be clean for effective light transmission.
If you use medications such as Tetracycline, Digoxin (used for heart irregularities) and photosensitizing drugs (e.g., tranquilizers, sulfa drugs, oral anti-diabetic drugs, antidepressants, and steroids), please consult your physician before using Red Light.
Red Light, as well as other light therapies, has been proven to improve Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
